This is Evelyn, she is my first Schoenhut doll .

She did not have any clothes when I purchased her, so I had to search the internet for a suitable dress and was lucky to find a couple, this being one of them.

She is in a lovely condition considering she is over 100 years old.

I took her plaits down but they have been up so long they just turn up!

Schoenhut dolls have moverable joints , which make them great for placing in realistic positions. Evelyn is 20/21 inches tall a lovely size.

She holds a Teddy in this photo, waiting for a chance to go and play.

I am looking forward to putting her in different positions and scenes, I will share the photo’s when I take them

When the kidz n cats dolls first arrived on the doll scene the pouty faced girls did not appeal to me but as with everything over time I came to like them and did buy one just before they changed and up dated them. Then over time I grew to like them more and wanted to get a blue eyed blonde with the paler vinyl. I would see the earlier Helen come on her sale every now and then but she always goes for a hefty price! There is one all new and boxed on ebay but again almost three times the value of the original doll, so no joy there.

However as I said about Charlotte, I had bought a doll from er owner before, well that doll was a Mareika, whose got the pale blonde hair and the blue eyes I wanted and at nowhere near the cost of the Helen’s that appear from time to time. The seller had never removed her from her clothes, of which I have to say I do not like the style of the coat, so that will go.

you can see what I mean about the coat, it looks like it’s just been tried on with that black velvet ribbon!

I decided she’d be called Merry being as she’d been bought so close to Christmas.

She to needed a change of clothes, well at least taking out of the grey coat and hat.

So I removed them and replaced them with this jacket , hat and scarf set I had bought off ebay from the same seller as the red set on Lottie.

Again she’s kept her cropped trousers, socks and shoes.

Without the hat.

Such a sweet face.

I have to say that these latest three, Grace , Lottie ( Laura) and Merry ( Mareika ) and helped rekindle my affection for these dolls.

I will be looking forward to ‘playing’ with them over the coming new year.

I purchased another Kidz n Cats girl from a seller on ebay and she contacted me to say she was selling a Robert, one of the newer Kidz dolls. I had bought one when they first came out but could not deal with the darker strange vinyl used for these new dolls so I sold him on quite quickly.

So I thanked her for letting me know and then remembered my sister might be interested so told her and she bought him. The seller then came back to me a couple of days later to tell me she was selling a Laura, unclothed on ebay. Again I had owned a Laura a few years back but could not gel with her, she looked to much like my Jakob.

However I decided to take a chance and buy this girl and hope that she’d not have this later vinyl as she was a very good price.

Well I am pleased to say that she is Gorgeous and not this latest vinyl but although not the first paler vinyl, she does have a nice colour to her without being shiny.

Her hair is an unusual colour for a Laura , they are usually very dark brown almost black but this girl’s got a beautiful caramel brown wig which is lovely.

She came undressed but I had bought this knitted outfit from ebay which suits her just fine for the winter. She’s wearing red tights from my doll best friend website and boots from the kidz n cats winter white ‘fur’ coat set.

A back view of her lovely hair.

It’s lovely when you take a chance and it works out. I could not be more pleased

with this girl, who I have named Charlotte, Lottie for short.

So that’s another of the Kidz dolls introduced, there are still a few more to go.

GRACE a Kidz n Cats Doll

This is a Kidz n Cats Doll called Grace. I recently managed to add her to my collection of these dolls. I bought one several years ago but when she arrived she had the golden blonde hair and was also a lot darker skinned. I was so disappointed as i’d expected a pale skinned , pale blonde.

So I sold her on to my friend Kim who also collects these dolls and owns   at least 20 plus.

Then just the other week her saw her come up for sale with all her original clothes , cat and box, she’d only been displayed, stupidly I could not decide if I should get her, only to leave it long enough for her to vanish! Sadly I thought I’d missed my chance, then last week she reappeared and so this time I hit the button and she arrived this week and I could not be happier.

Here she is as she arrived. Beautiful with a lovely lilac and white outfit, she still had her papers wrapped round her body and legs as when first received , so had never been changed. Well it is Winter, so I put in an order to My Doll Bestfriend , a great website for all things dolly, for an outfit and some boots.

So today she was changed into a nice long sleeved winter dress, some tights and boots.

I’m not impressed with the wonky stripes on the  dress, which is from the kidz n cats range, it does have a belt that ties round the waist and would hide this but I think I’ll try and adjust it to fit correctly.

I love her brown eyes and blonde hair, just the same as my youngest daughter.

Gorgeous long pale blonde hair. You can see the dress belt hanging at the back!

So that’s Grace who is a very much welcomed addition.

Now like most of my dolls they always seem to arrive like buses , three at a time and that’ s what happened in this last two weeks.

So I’ll show you the next arrival in the next post.
