Yes! another Zwergnase arrived today. A little one, I have owned a couple of the smallest Zwergnase dolls before, a boy and a girl with attitude ! But this little love does look to have a sweetness to her.
Look at that face… butter wouldn’t melt…..
I love the colour combination of her clothing, nice and warm for the approaching winter months.
Idje is 35cm and here she is with her sister Kirsten whose 55cm. I love the size difference.
So Idje will complete my Zwergnase dolls as I now have all the sizes…. I don’t have a boy, but unless one turns up that I just fall in love with ,that’s the way it will stay.
Well I’m supposed to be making space by selling dolls however sometimes you can be offered a deal that changes that.
I agreed to a part exchange on a couple of Schoenhuts I was selling and received three Kathe Kruse dolls. My main interest in the p/t was the middle girl who is from 1941. Although she’s had a well loved life over the last 79 years, she is still a gem.
She came along with two younger dolls from the 80’s. A large brunette and a small blonde. Her name is Gundrun, named after her previous owners mother. I think it suits her, so Gudrun she will stay.
Gudrun is a little care worn but I’m sure with a pair of tights to protect the cut on her leg and a nice long sleeved dress or cardigan she’ll soon be looking much happier.
I am so pleased with being able to look after this lovely old doll.
At the moment the newbies are getting settled in , along side the four of the Kathe Kruse kids already in the village. I’ll need to look for tights etc for Gudrun before I forget and she feels unloved!
Is there such a thing as too many doll shoes? Sometimes you can look at the amount of small shoes around and wonder just how many does a doll need?
But then again if you have more than a few dolls, each one will need at least one pair of shoes, thats just for starters!
Then there is colours and lets not forget styles! You wouldn’t want the wrong colour shoes clashing with an outfit or for that fact a beautiful delicate outfit with a pair of khaki boots… or maybe you would! either way you’d need at least a few different colours to choose from.
Which is how come I recieved this box of wonderfully coloured shoes recently. The creamy white pair of boots are meant for the Sashas but the rest were for my Pongratz dolls. Bruno especially will be over the moon having only one pair at present!.
However I decided to try a pair on one of my mid sized Schoenhut dolls, Gloria, who is around 17 inches.
These red shoes were also in the box but I’d removed them before I took the photo. But they are a great fit with just a pair of slim nylon tights or socks. Anything thicker would cause an issue.
Here’s a photo of Gloria, in the shoes which go well with her dress. I love it when shoes meant for one doll will then fit another style of doll. So can one have too many dolls shoes? I think not… well not yet ! 😉
Well I know I said no more Zwergnase dolls due to the very poor quality control and their attitude to any complaints about their dolls. But there was one that I really wanted and had ordered. So I set the money aside and decided I’d wait until she was finally about to arrive to make the decision as to whether to take the risk and buy her.
Finally the message came to say she was in, I thought about it overnight, looked again at her profile and said yes I’d have her.
And here she is Kirsten. She’s always looked to me to have a bit of an attitude, which I think is why I wanted her. She is the same face sculpt I have on a couple of other dolls, but straight red hair and a bunch of freckles can make a big difference in look.
She arrived today and is fine, she can stand well and her legs are both the same size, I’m pleased to say.
I love the colours of her outfit, pink and green and think it looks well on her.
She is one of the taller girls at 55cm.
and already I think she’ll be a favourite, so I am glad I took the chance and bought her.
I’d like to say she’ll be my last Zwergnase but I have learnt to never say never where dolls etc are concerned as I can be drawn to a pretty face , totally forgetting why I wasn’t buying a certain style of doll until it’s too late!.
Well I have to say I’m already falling for her charms and will keep her with me for a while , even with all the decorating that’s going on and not introduce her to her zwergy clan until later.
She’ll even keep her name , Kirsten as it’s one of the names I concidered when I was having my girls, as I like it so much.
