LOST IN AUSTEN

Emily , my Roche doll, decided to try on a regency outfit belonging to the A girl for all time dolls,

The hat is a little on the large side and the slippers also are slightly big,

But the dress is a lovely fit.

Emily is a big fan of Jane Austen
In fact she is often ” Lost in Austen ”

MOVING ON

Well I should say moving dolls on. How come whenever you want to sell a doll, it looks at it’s best ?

Is it some sort of in built survival sense it has ? it appears to happen almost every time I select a doll for the adoption market, that doll will shine in the photos or standing waiting to be photographed !

I’m trying to bring down the number of dolls I have in certain designs/groups while of course at the same time adding to other groups ! Although I will land up having sold more dolls than I will buy by a big margin, so the aim will be achieved of getting less dolls around and more space.

They even look lovely while waiting around !

Of course what next happens is the battery on the camera runs out, so you have to wait longer to get them listed giving them yet more time to try and win you round to keeping them !

Then they stand so demurely , looking down !

But alas it’s no use , there are too many and someone does have to go !

Well once that camera battery’s powered up and I can download the photos.

GOTZ HAPPY KIDZ

In my doll collection I have a few of the Gotz Happy Kidz dolls. I had a few more years ago but sold then off and just kept two. One I sold off was the same sculpt as the doll shown above. So I had been watching this girl for a while and then finally decided to add her to my small group of the dolls.

She is called Sophie and from their 2020 release.

Here she is showing her full outfit.

Now I have been having a big clear out of dolls clothing I either never use but have used and also brand new items I have never got round to using.

A few years back a friend was selling a Gotz doll outfit that she’s not opened and I decided to buy it because I had seen the outfit on a Gotz doll with the same face sculpt as Sophie here, however at the time I did not own one but thought it could look nice on one of my other Happy Kidz dolls.

The outfit in it’s wrapping. But when having the clear out I decided I’d never use it, so best to sell it on and put it on for sale.

However after Sophie arrived on the 1st Feb I did not remove her from her box until the 3rd and it made me think , maybe I should try the outfit on her before I sell it just in case !

Of course the blouse, pants and petticoat were attached to each other with the tiny plastic clips, so before deciding whether to cut them and then making it no longer new and unused, I tried the pink dress on her, Well !!! I removed it and straight away found the scissors and cut the clothes loose.

I’m sure you can see why ! It is perfect on her. Just shows how much an outfit can lift a doll to the next level.

Luckily for me no one had bid on the outfit , so I was able to remove it from sale , having had a lucky escape.
She is sitting beside my laptop as I write this post. I have to say that I may have seen a Gotz doll they were selling in a similar outfit years ago but if they were to sell this girl in a different hair / eye colour in this outfit in another colour combination I’m sure it would jump off the shelves in minutes !

Now I wonder if this outfit can be found in another colourway… I may have to go and look…..

CLAUDINE

Due to having another Roche doll arriving, I decided that I needed to try and keep the numbers steady,

so listed a couple of the other Roche dolls to sell. However I don’t keep them in their original clothes, so needed to dress them.

Well that is fatal ! The more time you have to look again at a doll the more things you find as to why you bought them in the first place and so it was with Claudine.

Her sweet face and beautiful aquamarine eyes.

Her original outfit is lovely , a knitted yellow sweater under her pink and yellow edged Pinafore dress that

is filled with circus animal detailing.

A seal balancing a ball.

A couple of elephants

A bear in a ruff and a pretty tiny doll brooch.

So of course after taking these photos of Claudine, I decided that she would have to stay and two of her smaller sisters could go. So Claudine is relieved that she does not have to go to a new home.

Maybe I will finally make her that new outfit I had planned ? Time will tell .

LOUISA

Just before the end of the year , and I do mean only just , I decided to offer on a Roche doll that was up for sale. I had been watching her for a while and finally decided it was worth making an offer. Well I’m pleased to say it was accepted and that she’s finally arrived after a wait in customs for her ransom to be paid !

She is a Louisa Winter and stands at 20 inches. She was made in 2001.

With her bright red cheeks , she looks like she’s been outside walking in the cold winter air.

That’s the wonderful thing about the Roche Winter dolls they have lots of extra layers or attachments

Like gloves , scarves and coats etc.

Louisa wears a waistcoat over her sweater and pinafore dress adding that extra layer

Still warmly dressed without her smart waistcoat.

A view from the back

she has lovely golden blonde hair

Her Hat, scarf, gloves, waistcoat and bag along with her tag.

I’m really pleased I have added her to my little Roche family and that she’s finally arrived
